THE BIGGEST GROUP OF ANIMAL THIEVES FROM MOLDAVIA WAS ANNIHILATED BY POLICE
The thieves previously caught were usually set free. Their action contributed to the significant increase of animal thefts in Iasi county. If in the first six months of last year there were 118 thefts, now the number reached 200.
Commissioner Liviu Zanfirescu – Chief of County Police Inspectorate: „This group, feared by citizens from many counties, was closely watched by the police for a long time and they have been detained before, but because each of them was investigated separately somehow it was decided they do not represent a social threat. I believe that this time we will prove they are a social threat considering the doubling of animal thefts.”
The lawyer for three persons out of 17 claims her clients didn’t commit any illegal deed.
Gianina Porosnicu – lawyer of Gangal brothers: „The three Gangal brothers are held now within the Brigade for Fighting Organized Crime, and he will be recognized, but didn’t commit any criminal act; I participated in the perquisition – some goods were confiscated but not the best clues and evidences in the case that is represented in this case.” The 17 men will have criminal files for robbery, the investigation including now also other misdemeanors.
